BAX (fintech) — Senior Full Stack Engineer

I was specifically brought in by the CEO to set a “startup” pace in the team. I took two products from 0 to 1: a web app and a mobile app on both iOS and Android. I work across the stack and usually get involved pretty early, from figuring out how something should work to actually building it and getting it into production.

Gateless Inc — Software Engineer

Remote · July 2023–March 2025

I worked mainly with Clojure on an expert system that helps underwriters approve mortgages faster. What I really learned here was how to be part of an engineering team. I knew how to code, but pretty much the entire time up to this point I’d been the only dev around. Most of the work was the usual software engineering stuff: adding features, maintaining existing code, writing and fixing tests, doing code reviews, and fixing bugs.

Suarmi — Co-founder

Mexico City, Mexico · November 2021–July 2023

My friend and I co-founded Suarmi as our second company. I developed about 95% of the codebase. A big part of it was integrating local payment rails like SPEI with crypto rails. I also took care of customer service and customer success, talking directly with users and trying to understand their problems. I ended up really enjoying that part since it gave me a much better idea of what people actually needed. We raised an angel round and, after a couple of years, decided to shut the company down when the industry moved in a different direction than the one we were expecting.

Resuave — Co-founder

Uppsala, Sweden · November 2020–November 2021

I moved to Sweden during the pandemic and realized that sending money from Mexico to other countries online was surprisingly hard. So I started Resuave with my best friend from college. We basically built a TransferWise clone for cross-border money transfers. We built the company for about a year and eventually had an exit.

albo — BI Manager / Data Scientist

Mexico City, Mexico · February 2019–November 2020

I joined albo as a Data Analyst and, four months later, got promoted to BI Manager. I was employee number 50, which gave me a great perspective of how startups operate. I was in charge of a team of four and worked on data, reporting, and business intelligence for the company. Our CEO also asked me directly to build growth KPI reports and dashboards he would use in conversations with VCs. This was also where I started moving from mostly doing analysis into building more technical systems and software.
